Insurers | Clinical Quality Improvement
"Physicians are committed to delivering the highest quality of care to their patients. As a result, the Quality Forum's clinical quality improvement initiative is vital. We're able to provide physicians in their offices with the tools and resources needed to achieve this goal while serving to improve the overall health of Louisiana citizens."
-- Joseph E. Bisordi, MD, FACP
Chief Medical Officer, Ochsner Health System
In keeping with its mission to improve the health of Louisiana's people, the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum includes clinical quality improvement among its major initiatives. The program became operational in 2010 and features a physican/practice-focused approach that appropriately relfects needs at this level.
As part of its mission, this program has identified and defined several quality measures to promote in Louisiana:
Safe ... avoid injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them.
Effective ... match care to science; avoid overuse of ineffective care and underuse of effective care.
Patient-centered ... providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
Timely ... patients receive the care they need at a time when it will do the most good.
Efficient ... reduce waste.
Equitable ... providing care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location and socioeconomic status.
